B. Curtis McClymond

Chairman

B. Curtiss McClymond (Curt) is the Chairman of Petex and is closely involved in most aspects of running the family business. Curt’s background is based on years of practical experience in the oil and gas business, beginning at an early age with part-time oilfield jobs. Curt was supported by an extraordinary number of mentors, representing a wide range of expertise in the business, who graciously offered their support along the path of building what is now known as Petex.

Nic McClymond

President

Nic McClymond leads the drilling, acquisition, exploration, and production side of the business. He grew up around the oil and gas business and working in the oilfield. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and is a certified Professional Engineer. Before returning to the family business, Nic managed several asset groups for Merit Energy Company in Dallas where he gained a strong knowledge of oil and gas operations across the mid-continent area. He has first-hand experience managing oil and gas properties in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Michigan.

Todd Tidwell

Senior Vice President

Todd Tidwell joined Petex in December of 2007, as the IT Manager. His understanding of integrated IT systems and the oil and gas industry created a unique ability to flesh out the value of investment opportunities in an efficient and effective manner. Todd leads our oil and gas acquisition effort and provides oversight for Petex affiliates and various other investments. Todd holds a BS in Computer Information Systems from Tarleton State University and his on-the-job experience, supplemented by numerous oil and gas production and engineering courses, complements his primary role of acquiring producing oil and gas properties.

Kirk Farquhar

VP of Land

Kirk Farquhar brings 40+ years of land management experience, supporting transactions and operations for energy organizations across a wide range of asset types and ownership structures. His career includes work throughout Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado, North Dakota, Arkansas, Kansas, and offshore environments, spanning private equity-backed, public, and family-owned companies. A University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) graduate (BBA, 1982), Kirk is a Midland native who worked in Graham before returning to Midland, and later relocating to Breckenridge. He is now based at Possum Kingdom Lake.

Leonardo Medina

Head of Production

Leonardo Medina serves as the Head of the Production Department at Petex. He joined Petex in January 2022 as a Production Engineer and advanced into a leadership role where he oversees day‑to‑day operations, special projects, and drilling activities. Before joining Petex, Leonardo spent six years with US Well Services and ProPetro Services as a Field Engineer, gaining extensive experience across the Permian, Delaware, and Appalachian Basins. Raised in Breckenridge, TX, he would work on workover rigs for local service companies. Leonardo holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University, earned in 2016.

Daryl Chisholm

Head of IT

Daryl Chisholm joined Petex in July of 2021. He is an Data Analyst and IT Department Head with 17 years of experience modernizing data systems and aligning technology with business strategy. Former Director of IT and Operations Manager at Filtration Group, with deep cross-functional expertise in IT, operations, and finance. Currently leading data and technology transformation initiatives at Petex.

Thomas Villalta

Financial Advisor

Tom Villalta is an investment and financial strategist with more than 30 years of experience in financial analysis and financial consulting. Prior to founding his own advisory firm, he was the Director of Investment Research for Covenant Multifamily Offices. Tom has earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. Additionally, over the past 20 years Tom has taught finance classes as an adjunct professor at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
